Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

I feel like there’s a little bit of foreshadowing in this chapter. When Jamie tells Claire that it was a family member who had been captured, I couldn’t help but think of William. In the end, it was Simon Fraser, but it’s clear that William is going to come up soon. Eventually, father and son will need to meet. They are constantly so close to each other.

I also feel like the books are foreshadowing more reunions with family. There’s a mention of Canada and British supplies from there. It’s only a matter of time before Jamie ends up reunited with family who have fled to Canada.

Adapting An Echo in the Bone chapter

I do expect to see this chapter used in the TV series. We need to see something like this, something that reminds us of war and the dangers within it. We need to see Jamie do everything he can to stay with Claire—although I wouldn’t put it past the TV series to use this as a way to split Claire and Jamie up again.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if we’re left wondering if William is the British officer captured at first. That would make an interesting cliffhanger.

Overall, the chapter isn’t too important, but it does remind us of the chaos of war. That’s something that will need to be focused on, especially if we see Bree and Roger learn where Claire and Jamie are.
