William heads out on a spy mission in Outlander Book 7, Chapter 20

We head back to William’s part of the story in Outlander Book 7, Chapter 20. It’s time for him to go on a spy mission.

At first, we see William punished. There are certainly elements of Jamie’s character shining through in William’s personality throughout this chapter. Again, I question why people have such a problem with William when we see so much of Jamie in him at this point in the story.

He doesn’t even use his connections to get out of trouble. It’s only when he’s offered a chance to head out on a spy mission that he’s able to get out of his punishment. There’s something honorable about that.

This opens the door for more characters connected to those in the past. There’s a name that will stand out to everyone: Randall-Isaacs. Is it possible he’s related to Jack Randall? That’s what we’re about to find out.

There is certainly some foreshadowing in this chapter when it comes to Randall-Isaacs. I’ll get to that in the foreshadowing section.

I would love to see some of this storyline play out in the series. We may get some of it, but probably not all of it, and I’ll get to that in the adaptation section.

Let’s dive into An Echo in the Bone Chapter 20.
