Outlander Book Club: An Echo in the Bone Chapter 17 breakdown
The Frasers run into a couple of bandits in Outlander Book 7, Chapter 17
As they start their journey to Scotland, the Frasers run into a couple of bandits in Outlander Book 7, Chapter 17. The story doesn’t take the turn that you would initially think, though.
It turns out that the bandits aren’t all that dangerous. They’re not even boys. They’re girls on the run who are dressed up as boys to protect themselves. It really does remind us of the dangers toward women at the time, and it does remind me of how Ayra had to travel around Westeros for a season or two of Game of Thrones.
Young Ian is tasked with getting the two girls to safety. This offers some great character development for him as we see him in a different light to the ones we’ve seen him in before. It always makes me want more about Ian as there are so many more layers to uncover.
The chapter certainly foreshadows trouble in the future, and I’ll get to that in the right section. I’m not certain this chapter will be used in the TV show, though. I’ll get to why I think that in the adaptation section.
Let’s dive into An Echo in the Bone Chapter 17.
