Claire weeps for everything she is leaving behind in Outlander Book 7, Chapter 12
The time has come for Claire and Jamie to leave the Ridge for a while. Claire realizes just how much she’s leaving behind in Outlander Book 7, Chapter 12.
I adore this chapter for the meaning within it. Up to this point, Claire doesn’t believe she has a physical home. Jamie has always been her home, but this chapter changes that a little. As she looks around at parts of the Ridge, she realizes how much she’ll miss.
It’s Adso who makes her weep, though. We get this look at how the cat has become part of Claire’s family. She would bring him if she could, but he needs to stay with the Higgins family.
Jamie is there at the end of the chapter. He’s there just at the right time to offer Claire the comfort she needs when she needs it.
I do get a sense of foreshadowing in this chapter, and I’ll get to that in the foreshadowing section. I hope we see some of this play out in the series if we’re going to see the Frasers head back to Lallybroch for a bit. I’ll get to my thoughts about that in the adaptation section.
Let’s dive into An Echo in the Bone Chapter 12.
