What happens to Mrs. Bug in the Outlander books?
The Bugs gained more screentime during Outlander Season 6, suggesting they become important to the story. What happens to Mrs. Bug in the books?
When the Bugs were first introduced in Outlander Season 5, they were mostly in the background. It was understandable that a lot of fans questioned whether their big storyline would come up. Those who hadn’t read the books would have just thought they were background characters to show how life at the Ridge was growing.
Then in Season 6, they got more screentime. We got to see how Mrs. Bug works around the house, and just how nosey she is! We also saw Mr. Bug’s personality of sort. He is an unapologetic fellow.
With all this happening, it hints that there’s a bigger storyline for the Bugs to come. We can turn to A Breath of Snow and Ashes and An Echo in the Bone to see what happens to them. First up is Murdina Bug.
What happens to Murdina Bug in the Outlander books?
Toward the end of A Breath of Snow and Ashes, we learn a lot more about the Bugs. They were the ones who stole the French gold from Jocasta Cameron. Everyone only learns because Murdina had a gold ingot in her basket. That ingot falls out during the fight with Donner.
Jamie tells the Bugs they are free to leave. It’s clear that they only have their own best interests at heart.
And so off they go. At least, that’s what it seems. They should have enough gold. However, they don’t think they do, and the come back to the Ridge for the rest of the gold.
One night, Jamie and Ian head out to see who is at the rubble of the burned-down house. Who dared to swipe at the White Sow? Jamie and Ian think they see Arch Bug.
As the person shoots and hits Jamie in the leg, Ian uses an arrow to shoot the person. It wasn’t Arch, though. It turns out that it was Murdina, and she dies in Ian’s arms. He feels a lot of guilt over this, and it starts a storyline of revenge for Arch.
