Wendigo Donner in the Outlander books
Like in the series, we meet Donner when Lionel Brown’s men abduct Claire. The reason for the abduction is different, but for the most part, the story plays out the same. We still get to meet Donner, who is a time traveler from 1968.
He wants to get back to his own time but doesn’t know how. Originally, he came back with Otter Tooth and three other Native Americans. All of them wanted to prevent the Loyalists winning the war. In fact, they wanted to protect the tribes and encourage them to fight against the Colonists. They all seemed to have different views on how to do that, which is why they ended up split up through time and not all of them made it.
Donner got stuck in the 1700s. He comes across Claire in the 1760s and uses her knowledge of the stones to find a way back. All he wants to do now is go home. He manages to avoid death when Jamie and his men get Claire, but he ends up behind bars for a short time after meeting Brianna.
This leads to him searching for gems. Of course, he decides that the Frasers have gems, so he heads to the Big House and ransacks the place. This leads to a fight, which leads to spilled ether, which leads to the big fire.
Donner doesn’t survive the fire. That’s the end of his story in the Outlander books.
