Will Wendigo Donner be back for Outlander Season 7?
We first met Wendigo Donner in Outlander Season 5. He managed to get away from Jamie and the men. Will we see him return in Outlander Season 7?
At the end of Outlander Season 5, Claire was kidnapped by Lionel Brown and his men. One of the men was Wendigo Donner, a man who was actually from 1968. He realized that Claire was a time traveler, and turned to Claire for help to get back to his own time.
That hasn’t happened just yet. While Donner got away from Jamie and his men—the only one to survive—he’s not yet a free man. We saw him during Outlander Season 6. It was a brief moment at the end of an episode where he has ended up behind bars.
So far, Donner’s storyline is following the book. Does that mean we’ll get to see Donner return in Outlander Season 7?
Could Donner return in Outlander Season 7?
For those who haven’t read A Breath of Snow and Ashes, we are getting into spoilers about Donner’s character in this post.
In the books, Donner does return. In fact, he plays an important part in a major event at the end of the book. If it wasn’t for him, the fire at the Big House wouldn’t have happened.
You see, Donner simply wants to get back to his own time. That means turning to the Frasers for their gems, sure that they have some. They did for a while, but Bree, Roger, and the kids used them to get to their own time.
Donner won’t listen to anything but where the gems are. It starts a fight, which leads to some of Claire’s ether falling over. Ian strikes a match and BOOM! The house goes up in flames.
This is the end of Donner in the books. He perishes in the fire.
It’s hard to imagine the series not following this storyline. After all, it’s clear that the writers are keeping Donner around. Why show him in the jail cell if they weren’t going to do that? Even if the actor isn’t available, this is one of those parts that could be recast without too many problems to make sure Donner is involved in the storyline surrounding the fire.
