Outlander prequel: Will Graham McTavish be in Blood of My Blood?
Blood of My Blood, the Outlander prequel about Brian and Ellen, is officially in the works. Will Graham McTavish return as Dougal MacKenzie?
There is no doubt that we’re ready to see the Outlander prequel. STARZ has officially picked the series up, and we’ll soon get to see the story of Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie. While the series is sure to be mostly focused on them, there’s no doubt that we’ll get some storylines about their family members.
Ellen has a big family, and we know that her brothers and father weren’t happy with her decision to marry Brian. She wasn’t willing to marry for clan ties. She wanted to marry for love, and that wasn’t the done thing with daughters back then. Not daughters of clan chiefs, anyway.
We could see some of Ellen’s father and brothers in Blood of My Blood. Will that mean Graham McTavish returns as Dougal MacKenzie?
Will Dougal MacKenzie be in the Outlander prequel?
There are sure to be storylines available for Dougal in the prequel series. After all, Ellen’s marriage to Brian was something big for Clan MacKenzie. There’s no doubt that her father, Red Jacob, would send her brothers out looking for her when she ran off and hid until she was too pregnant to have her marriage to Brian annulled.
This would open the door for Graham McTavish to return as the character. We know that he would likely be up for it. His exit didn’t involve any bad blood, he’s turned up in Outlander Season 5 to play another character, and he is close to Sam Heuhan. There’s no reason to think that he would say no to being Dougal again unless there was a schedule conflict.
McTavish is a busy man. He has a number of projects on the go right now. The Witcher Season 3 is filming, and there are a few projects currently in pre-production that could end up being in production around the same time as Blood of My Blood. So, it’s really going to depend on timing at this point.
