We head back to Wilmington to William and John in Outlander Book 7, Chapter 1
We pick up An Echo in the Bone with a storyline off the back of a previous A Breath of Snow and Ashes chapter. We’re back in Wilmington in 1776 in Outlander Book 7, Chapter 1.
This chapter may be a little confusing at first. That would have especially been the case when initially reading it straight off the back of A Breath of Snow and Ashes. After all, Bree and Roger are still in the past, but we know they went to the 20th century at the end of the sixth book.
It soon becomes clear that this is just a quick time jump back to Wilmington to around the time Bonnet was executed. We get to see some of the story from William and John’s point of view, which helps to push their individual storylines forward.
Something that this chapter makes clear is that William and John will become more important in the Outlander story moving forward. It foreshadows a fair bit in that matter, and I’ll get to that in the right section of this chapter.
Will it be a chapter used in the TV series? Maybe, but that’s going to depend on how much of this storyline is used. I think some of it is going to be necessary.
Let’s dive into An Echo in the Bone Chapter 1.
