Droughtlander suggestions: Will The Serpent Queen be worth watching?
The Serpent Queen is coming to STARZ next month, but will it be something for during Droughtlander? Here’s a look at what to expect.
As Outlander fans, we’re always on the lookout for something that will help us get through Droughtlander. The Serpent Queen is something coming to STARZ very soon. It seems like a good choice since we already have STARZ for our favorite show.
The series won’t premiere until Sunday, Sept. 11. This does mean we can’t really say whether the show is going to work for all fans, but we can get a rough idea based on the synopsis and the trailer.
What is The Serpent Queen about?
If you watched Reign, you’ll have seen one important player throughout the four seasons. It was all about Catherine de Medici. We didn’t get to know too much about her as the series was focused on Mary, Queen of Scots. Now it’s time to delve into the real Queen of France.
Of course, the series is a dramatized version of the story. It’s something similar to The Spanish Princess, The White Queen, and Becoming Elizabeth. We’ll get to see Catherine’s rise to power, with the story told through a mixture of flashbacks and current day story.
Catherine was born a commoner, but her uncle Pope Clement manages to arrange her a marriage to the King of France. If only it was all dances and crowns. She won’t get the happiness she craves when she learns her husband is in love with Diane de Poitiers. Catherine needs to conceive quickly and figure out who she can trust among the courtiers. She is determined to survive, no matter the cost.
The series has an outstanding cast. Liv Hill plays Catherine, while Charles Dance plays her uncle and Ludivine Sagnier plays Diane. Rupert Everett, Adam Garcia, and Ray Panthaki also star.
This could certainly be something for Outlander fans to check out. You have STARZ anyway to watch the series, so why not check out the first episode?
The Serpent Queen premieres on Sunday, Sept. 11 on STARZ.
