Jamie is reminded of Culloden and Murtagh in Outlander Book 6, Chapter 113

Jamie stands on the battlefield in the colonies, but it brings back memories of Culloden in Outlander Book 6, Chapter 113. It’s time to learn a little more of what happened on that fateful day.

The mind is an amazing thing. It tries to protect us from some of the most traumatic events of the past. We certainly see that with Jamie, who doesn’t remember much of what happened at Culloden in 1746. Throughout the last few books, he’s gained some memories. He knew that Murtagh died, but that’s about it.

It’s time to learn what actually happened on that day. As Jamie gets ready to fight against a Highland regiment in the Revolutionary War, he’s reminded of things that happened in the past. We get the ghosts of Culloden, and it’s such a wonderful way to bring up the memories.

The chapter hasn’t been used in the TV series, and we won’t get it in full. After all, the show changed things for Murtagh, and I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.

I don’t see much in the way of foreshadowing in this chapter. This is more about story development to push us forward throughout the Revolutionary War.

Let’s dive into A Breath of Snow and Ashes Chapter 113.
