Just the Outlander chapter

With Roger, Jamie, Claire, and Ian on the right island, they now need to find Brianna and save her. Roger has more questions about his faith. He is somewhat jealous of Ian and Jamie that they can pray to a god of vengeance while he can’t pray for God to kill Bonnet. He does pray for Brianna’s safety though.

We learn that Claire blesses Jamie in Gaelic by invoking the Michael of the red domain. She wants him to be free to be the warrior he is. Ian has used war paint through the use of mud on his face. They are both ready for battle, and Roger feels a little left out of that.

As it starts to rain, we head back to Brianna. Drops of rainwater are falling on her face, and she realizes there’s a leak in the ceiling. She uses that to her advantage, breaking through the weakened plaster to get to the roof of the house. From there, she can all out to those who may be around to save her.

Initially, Roger, Jamie, and Ian find the slaves being sold. They hear a noise, but it isn’t Brianna. However, they know they’re in the right place.

Back with Brianna, she is now fighting with one of Bonnet’s men, Emmanuel. She tries to kill him but it doesn’t work. Instead, she falls from the roof and plays possum in the hope that Emmanuel will leave her alone. This does help her family find her, and Jamie gets to Emmanuel and kills him. Well, we’re left wondering whether he’s been killed by Jamie or he’s suffered a stroke. Either way, he’s dead, and that’s all that matters at this point.

Bonnet tries to use Brianna as a shield. He even has the testicle that’s in a jar, which he thinks is a good luck charm. That doesn’t work. Jamie and Roger chase after Bonnet and capture him. Ian shares that he saved Phaedre, but he couldn’t save Josh. It turns out Phaedre had tried to save Josh from his fate, but it ended in his death. Ian gives Brianna Josh’s wooden rosery as a memory of him.

In the end, Brianna is the one with the option of what to do with Bonnet. She doesn’t want Bonnet’s blood on Roger’s or Jamie’s hands. Instead, she decides the Committee of Safety should have this man and decide his fate.
