What’s the gold Jocasta mentioned in Outlander Season 6?
In Outlander Season 6, Jamie learned Jocasta has been muttering about some gold. He clearly knows what it is, but will it come up again in the show?
There were a lot of breadcrumbs dropped throughout Outlander Season 6. Some of them we’re touched on in the season, while others will need to be held for Season 7. One of the ones held is the mention of gold.
Up to this point, book fans have wondered about this particular storyline. We will get into some spoilers from the books for those who haven’t read them to explain the meaning behind the gold. It is something that Jamie knows about, and it is important for some characters that we’ve come to know.
What is the deal with the gold in Outlander Season 6?
Mary, the slave who mentioned Jocasta’s words, didn’t have a clue about the gold. To her, it’s just some mutterings her mistress makes on a night, and it’s something that Mary is concerned about. After all, it could mean that Jocasta isn’t well.
The look on Jamie’s face said something different. He knows something about the gold, even if it’s just a rumor about it at this point. There was gold from France that didn’t make it to Scotland in time for Culloden. It ended up being split between a few people, including Hector Cameron. That gold has been hidden at River Run this whole time.
In the novels, the Bugs have a part to play in this storyline. They want the gold, and when they find out where it’s hidden, they head out to take it. This leads to the burning of the Big House, which is something we should end up seeing play out in Outlander Season 7.
It’s going to be hard to include absolutely everything from the books when it comes to the gold. This storyline is likely to be condensed, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s still used to explain the fire at the Big House, Jocasta and Duncan getting away from River Run, and the Bugs bigger role in the story.
You’ll want to read A Breath of Snow and Ashes to get an understanding of how big the gold is in storylines throughout the novel. There’s a reason Jocasta is worried about it.
Which storylines do you hope are included from the rest of A Breath of Snow and Ashes? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
