The Outlander ending is on the minds of many. Caitriona Balfe has shared her thoughts on how it should all come to an end for Claire and Jamie.

At the end of the day, only Diana Gabaldon knows the Outlander ending in full. That being said, she doesn’t have all the details of getting there. The characters talk to her and things are added in as she goes. What she does know is that we’ll get to understand Jamie’s (yes, it’s Jamie!) ghost from the beginning of the series.

None of this stops us from imagining how things could wrap up for Claire and Jamie. Caitriona Balfe has shared her thoughts on the story, and it’s likely the ending we have all come to imagine.

According to an interview with Digital Spy, Balfe shared that there is only one way for the story to end. It has to be something like a Romeo and Juliette ending. That’s not to say that they have the mistake of believing one is dead and killing themselves. It’s all about how one can’t live without the other.

We’ve seen Claire and Jamie survive for 20 years without each other. That’s all it really was. Survival.

Jamie ran his print shop and had his illegal activities after Ardsmuir. Claire went to medical school and became a doctor. However, they didn’t really live their lives. It’s only been since Claire got back to the past that the two were able to live fully. It’s not surprising to hear that Balfe thinks the two will end up going out at the same time.

Many fans have thought this. Wouldn’t it be sweet to have a Notebook ending where the two end up passing away at the same time? As much as we’d love to see Claire and Jamie live forever, they are both human. Eventually, they will die, and there’s no way the series could continue without the two of them in it.
