Maril Davis has dropped a “Heard on Set” line. At first, the line looks questionable, but it is definitely something from Outlander Season 7.

It’s been a while since we’ve had a “Heard on Set” tease. Maril Davis shares them now and then to give us an idea as to where the cast and crew are in the production process. The lines are from the script, and they are usually lines from the book.

That’s the case with the latest one. Davis did have to clarify that “Is that brandy?” is a line from Outlander Season 7 and not just something mentioned on set. The cast and crew don’t drink while they’re filming. Well, that’s what Davis says.

Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan quickly joined in with the humor. They tend to be the ones to continue this sort of humor for fans.

Where does the line come from in Outlander Season 7?

With the line being in Outlander Season 7, there are now a lot of questions about where it comes from. It’s from An Echo in the Bone, which is the seventh book in the series. If we run with the first four episodes of the season wrapping up the Season 6 storyline (and therefore wrapping the A Breath of Snow and Ashes storyline) that would suggest filming has reached at least Episode 5 of the season.

The line is said by Jamie after Young Ian passes him a glass. Jamie is shocked that it is brandy. We have to remember that this is the point where we’re in the middle of the Revolutionary War. Some alcohol is hard to come by. It wasn’t like it was all that easy (and cheap) in the first place thanks to the taxes!

The line doesn’t give too many spoilers away. Think of the “Heard on Set” as a little like Diana Gabaldon’s Daily Lines. It’s just good to know where in the story the series is.
