Outlander fans in the UK will have something to get through a bit of Droughtlander. Suspect premieres this weekend and stars Sam Heughan, but what is the new series about?
Sam Heughan is a busy man. It turns out that during one of the filming breaks recently, he took on another project. He’ll appear in Suspect, a new crime drama heading to Channel 4 in the UK. There is no news on when or where it could head to in North America, but at least there’s something for UK fans to check out to get through Droughtlander.
The first episode airs on Sunday, June 19 at 9:30 p.m. What is the series about, and who will Sam Heughan play in the show?
What is Suspect about?
The Channel 4 series is based on the original Danish series called Forhøret. The basic storyline is going to be the same, but there are a few changes to suit the UK audience.
The story follows veteran detective, Danny Frater, who has to identity a corpse in the hospital mortuary. It turns out the corpse is his estranged daughter, and he finds out that she tragically took her own life. Danny wants to get to the bottom of the case. He just can’t believe she would do something like this, and he’s sure that there’s someone else to blame.
This is a series with an outstanding cast. Heughan will join James Nesbitt, Richard E. Grant, Ben Miller, Antonia Thomas, and Sacha Dhawan.
Nesbitt plays Danny, and we’ll get to see Heughan have some scenes with the talented actor. Heughan is Ryan, Danny’s former partner in the police force. Does this mean Heughan is playing a good guy, or is it possible that he has some sort of connection to Danny’s daughter?
Suspect airs on Channel 4 on Sundays at 9:30 p.m.
