How many episodes are in Outlander Season 7?
There have been some changes to the episode counts in Outlander Seasons 6 and 7. How many episodes will Outlander Season 7 have?
Originally, the plan was for Outlander Seasons 6 and 7 to both have 12 episodes. This would match the episode count from Season 4 onward.
Then the pandemic happened, and then Caitriona Balfe got pregnant. Things had to change for the sixth season, and that’s what will happen with the seventh season too. We know that Outlander Season 6 was the shortest episode of the series with just eight episodes.
Now eyes are on Outlander Season 7. The season is currently in production, and we need to know just how many episodes the season will have.
Outlander Season 7 episode count
There is some good news for fans. This is going to be the joint-longest season of the series. It will have 16 episodes, which matches the length of Season 1. There are no signs right now that this is the final season, as talks are happening between Sony and STARZ right now to bring an eighth season.
What’s not clear is how the season will air. We could have something similar to the way the first season aired, where we get the six-month break halfway through.
The four episodes that were originally planned for Season 6 will be part of Season 7. There are some changes, though. While Diana Gabaldon originally wrote Episode 9 of Season 6, that episode can’t be used as it was originally set. The episode doesn’t work for a season premiere, which meant that it needed to be completely rewritten. Some elements of the original episode are still there.
The first part of the season will be spent on what was left over from Season 6, which means seeing Jamie save Claire again. Then we move on to the An Echo in the Bone storyline.
