20 best moments from Outlander Season 6
3. Jamie saving Fergus’s life
Outlander Season 6 gave Fergus some bigger moments. One of those was him trying to take his own life. In the book, we hear that this happens. We get to see it in the TV series.
Fergus is at the river, attempting to kill himself. Jamie finds him just by chance. This is a moment for a heartfelt speech.
Not only do we find out what’s going on in Fergus’s head, but Jamie has a chance to make it clear that Fergus does offer something to everyone. He is needed, and now he needs to talk to people to get help.
2. Claire telling Jamie about her ether use
Fergus isn’t the only one who needs to get help. Claire also needs to open up instead of relying on ether to get her through. By the end of the season, she manages to do just that.
There’s a point Claire thinks that she’s dealt with the trauma. It’s soon clear that it’s not just the trauma from that night she was taken by Lionel Brown, though. Up to that point she’d managed to compartmentalize it all. She can no longer do that. It’s all flooding through.
Finally, she realizes that talking to Jamie about it isn’t weakness. Talking is strength, and now she has Jamie to help her fight her demons.
1. Claire believing Jamie didn’t have an affair
After hearing Malva claim that Jamie is the baby of her father, Claire doesn’t initially know what to believe. However, there’s one thing she knows about Jamie: if he had a child, he would claim it and do what he could for it. That suggests that Jamie is telling the truth.
She does want to make sure, though. She needs to hear from Jamie if it’s the truth or not. She needs to make it clear that she made so many sacrifices that have affected many other people. Now she needs to know if all of that was in vain. Does Jamie not love her the way she loves him?
Seeing Claire question everything is important. Of course she was going to question Malva’s words. Anyone would—and those who say they wouldn’t haven’t been through this sort of question of infidelity. The best thing is Jamie doesn’t blame Claire for initially believing Malva. He listens and then he says his part. But by the end of it all, Claire knows Jamie well, and she knows that if that baby was his, he would claim it.
