12. Young Ian turns to Claire for advice

When Malva tells everyone that Jamie fathered her baby, the Ridge can’t help but gossip. However, it’s clear that not only did Jamie not do it but that there are a few men who could be the father. One of those is Young Ian.

Ian turns to Claire with a confession. He’s slept with Malva, but he doesn’t love her. However, he knows that he could have fathered that baby, so he offers to marry Malva.

We see this honorable side to him in this moment. He will do what he can for the child and to help clear Jamie’s name.

11. The flashbacks of Young Ian’s time with the Mohawk

We get a chance to learn more about Young Ian’s time with the Mohawk. All this takes place in one episode of Outlander Season 6, but it’s just right for the way the TV show has told the story.

We get a chance to see it all play out, and that’s something I adore. I prefer to be shown and not told when it comes to books and TV shows. In this case, we got to see Young Ian become Mohawk, fall in love with Emily, and deal with the devastation of losing a child.

It helped Outlander Season 5 make more sense. Now it was easy to see why Ian would be so suicidal thinking that everything was over and he wasn’t good enough.

10. Brianna realizing what the mole means

While on the way to Edenton, Brianna has to shave Jemmy’s head. He has lice and shaving his head is the only option. That’s when she spots a mole.

At first, she’s worried about it. Then Roger explains that it’s benign and hereditary. He has one, and that’s how he knows. Well, this is an important statement that Roger doesn’t realize he’s made right away. It’s Brianna who realizes.

I think we see the weight of the question of Jemmy’s paternity has had on Bree in this moment. Seeing that Jemmy is biologically Roger’s son lifts that weight.
