The top 20 moments from Outlander Season 6
Outlander Season 6 had some outstanding moments throughout all eight episodes. Here’s a look at the 20 that stand out the most.
Like every other season, Outlander Season 6 is viewed with mixed reviews. That’s not surprising, and there were elements that stood out to me that I immediately knew would be hated by the majority of book-first fans. It’s just the way it is when it comes to this adaptation.
Yet, there were some complaints from the show-first fans about storylines that were straight from the book. It makes it very clear that this is a series where nobody is 100% happy. So, the writers need to do what they want instead of trying to please everyone—beacuse it’s clear that isn’t going to be possible.
Despite mixed reviews, there were some excellent moments throughout the entire season. Here are my top 20 moments from Outlander Season 6.
20. How people deal with trauma differently
One of the moments that stood out as something people would hate was Claire using the ether. I immediately knew we’d get “that wasn’t in the book” comments. Personally, I liked the use of the ether to show that Claire was struggling with everything that had happened to her.
Does Claire in the book do that? No, and it’s actually something I’ve always felt unrealistic about Claire in the book. So, seeing it in the show was refreshing. Substance abuse did happen in the past just like today, and trauma does change the root of who we are.
But it wasn’t just Claire. We saw Fergus drinking to show that he was going through something. This was important to show that people will handle trauma differently.
19. Marsali trying to hold it all together
Throughout the early episodes of Outlander Season 6, we saw that Marsali and Fergus were struggling as a couple. Marsali was trying so hard to keep it all together. She would hide the bruises—that weren’t because she married a violent man but because she was fighting against his drinking.
In the end, Marsali does turn to Claire. We see that it’s Jamie who helps Fergus in the end, but Marsali tries so hard despite her anger and her fear that she’s bringing in another child.
And when it comes to having to move to support Fergus, she does it. That’s not up for debate. She just wants him to be happy.
