This moment is taken from the book, A Breath of Snow and Ashes. Claire is angry, but deep down she knows that Jamie didn’t have an affair. If he did and it lead to a child, Jamie would claim that child. Yet, that knowledge doesn’t stop the anger.
You see, Claire knows that she and her family shouldn’t actually be here. If it wasn’t for her selfish actions to get back to the past because of her love for Jamie, she would still be in her own time. Brianna and Roger would still be in the 20th century, and Jemmy would grow up watching cartoons instead of using a musket that’s as big as him.
Jamie gets it, but he doesn’t think Claire made a mistake coming to the past. He still loves her just the way he always has. He was glad that she returned, even if it did cause some problems for him. He’d rather have the problems because he has her than not have her at all.
We see this moment of closeness between them. There hadn’t been that much in the season due to Claire and Jamie having their own tasks to do and Claire’s PTSD. However, this moment starts to bring them back together. Claire opens up, Jamie opens up, and they find their way back to each other despite knowing the gossip that will spread around the Ridge.
