Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter
Some of the foreshadowing is in the part of the chapter with the car. Bree wants to know if Roger thinks he’ll ever travel so fast again. This is foreshadowing that the two will end up going through the stones again.
We also have that conversation with Jemmy. The topic of time travel is going to come up. There will soon be another baby on the way, a baby who needs 20th-century medicine. That leaves the MacKenzies no choice, so Jemmy is going to learn the truth very soon.
There is also a brief moment where Bree thinks about Bonnet. What if Bonnet comes back for Jemmy? Should Jemmy know the truth about that? Well, the topic of Jemmy’s paternity is going to come up again in a chapter. We finally get to know the truth.
Adapting A Breath of Snow and Ashes chapter
This chapter was used but in two separate sections. We get the Lizzie and the twins first. They show up in the penultimate episode after the truth comes out to Claire and Jamie. They want to be handfasted so that Jamie can’t split the three of them apart. It’s only the day after that Bree and Roger learn what they did. I love that this gets its own section and a little more focus, because I do enjoy this scandal.
The part with the car and the discussion about time travel are kept for the Outlander Season 6 finale. The topic of time travel is important. Jemmy probably won’t remember the stones from Season 5, and they didn’t end up traveling anywhere so he wouldn’t have known what could have happened. Eventually, he will need to find out the truth, though.
Splitting it up the way the show did it made sense. The Lizzie part was contained to one episode, while the important discussions gave Bree and Roger something to do on the way to Edenton.
