We didn’t expect it, and now we have confirmation. Outlander Season 7 is definitely not coming to STARZ in June 2022. When could it premiere?
We certainly didn’t expect to see Outlander Season 7 on the list of new releases on STARZ next month. That didn’t stop us from checking the list just in case there was some sort of miracle. The miracle isn’t happening.
There are a lot of questions about the seventh season. Of course, the biggest for fans is when it will premiere. Just how long is this Droughtlander going to be?
When will Outlander Season 7 premiere on STARZ?
We’re not expecting the season any time soon. It is currently in production, and then there is the lengthy post-production process after that.
The last reports stated that the season would arrive sometime in late 2022/early 2023. We certainly doubted the “late 2022” part. There is a chance early 2023 is still possible, but it would mean splitting the season in two.
There would be time to film eight episodes and get them through post-production. If filming wrapped on those episodes sometime in June or July, that would allow plenty of time for post-production to bring the episodes in either February or March 2023.
Filming on the other eight episodes of the season could then continue while post-production on the first eight episodes was underway. This would allow a shorter Droughtlander now and to keep the next Droughtlander as short as possible. Think of it a little like the way the first season worked, although hopefully, it won’t leave with Jamie hanging in a window for six months.
We will keep an eye on any news that comes about the filming process. We want this Droughtlander to be as short as possible and will be happy with a split season if that keeps the wait more manageable.
