Outlander Season 6 has only just come to an end, and Season 7 is in production. Our eyes are on whether there will be more after that, though.
We may still have one more season to go at least, but that doesn’t stop us from looking ahead. With a series like Outlander, we need to look ahead.
Early renewals are important for a series like this. Droughtlanders are long, and the later a renewal comes, the longer a Droughtlander is going to be. Considering we’ve only just been through one hell of a Droughtlander and are already into another one, we’re worried about the length of the next one.
Will Outlander Season 8 happen at STARZ?
As of right now, we don’t know what will happen with the series. Sony and STARZ are in talks about an eighth season of the series right now, but there has been no official renewal. That also means there’s no official cancellation just yet. Until we get the cancellation, we can have hope that Season 8 will happen.
With some hope, we’ll get news about Season 8 before Season 7 premieres. This will allow the cast and crew to get into the season as soon as possible, keeping Droughtlander as short as possible. It’s the reason we’ve had two-season renewals in the past, and it’s also the reason Season 7 was renewed ahead of the release of Season 6.
We may get an announcement sometime later this year. After all, the network doesn’t really need to wait for Season 7 to see how popular the show still is. STARZ can look at the numbers for Season 6 (not the live ratings but the numbers directly on the app) to see if the series is worth another season or not.
If Season 7 is going to be the last, hopefully, the network decides that with enough time for the writers to craft some sort of reasonable ending, especially since there are more books stories to tell.
