We know Outlander Season 7 is happening, and talks are happening for Season 8. EP Maril Davis wants many more seasons in the future.
When a TV series first starts, the focus is on delivering something that people love just to be able to tell another season, and then another season after that. If a show proves popular, it gets to keep going, either until the network or production studio is done or until it gets to the end of the story that it wants to tell.
The problem is that some TV shows are expensive. That’s a problem for Outlander. Another problem for ou favorite show is that the off-seasons are long. We went almost two years for the most recent Droughtlander to end and within nine weeks we were back into Droughtlander.
It’s not surprising that there are concerns that this series is coming to an end soon. However, there is some great news. Executive producer Maril Davis isn’t done with the show just yet.
Maril Davis wants to get to Outlander Season 10
Davis certainly wants to see an eighth season, according to Parade. This is the season Sony and STARZ are currently in talks about. Getting a renewal before the seventh season airs is hopeful and needed to keep the next Droughtlander to a minimum.
However, Davis shared that she doesn’t want to stop at Season 8. She wants to get to Season 10. This would match the number of books that Diana Gabaldon is planning to write. The aim is to finish the TV series in the way that the books finish, which includes figuring out how Jamie’s ghost turned up in the 1940s.
If the show doesn’t get to the 10th season, there is a bit of hope of getting the planned ending of sorts rather than something like Game of Thrones happening. Davis is one of the few people who have seen the last page of Book 10 so she knows how it ends. It’s not enough for Davis, but it works to bring a similar conclusion.
