When do Claire and Frank marry in Outlander?
Even though there are fantasy elements, we still need timelines to make sense in the world of Outlander. That means looking at the various dates of events. When did Claire and Frank get married?
The book and show dates don’t always match up. We saw that in Outlander Season 5 when Jamie’s birthday fell on the same day as the Battle of Alamance. However, ther are other dates that do match up. Or there are dates left out of the show, and then we have to turn to the books for the answer.
Claire and Frank’s wedding date is one of those dates not included in the series. It’s in the books that we learn about the year of their wedding, helping to figure out how much time they did get to be together before the war started.
When did Claire and Frank get married in Outlander?
In the books, we learn that Claire and Frank get married in 1937. This makes Claire 19, which is the age she gives during Dragonfly in Amber. The young age isn’t all that surprising when you consider the pre-War time period.
The two were able to spend a two-day honeymoon in Scotland. We find out when Claire is getting married to Jamie that she and Frank married in the exact same church she and Jamie end up marrying in.
After that, Claire lives a somewhat nomadic life with Frank. They don’t have the ability to settle due to Frank’s work, and then they end up being separated due to the war. Frank is with MI6 and Claire becomes a nurse.
In 1945 in the show and some books and in 1946 in the UK version of the story, Claire ends up falling through the stones. The two don’t get to spend a lot of time together in the first eight or nine years of their marriage.
