Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

I guess the foreshadowing here is how people will take the news when Jamie does eventually switch sides. It’s not going to be easy for those who he has called friends over this time. The men who think that Jamie is a mole have already acted out.

There’s also some foreshadowing of trouble among the ranks. Things aren’t going to go smoothly at first, and that’s because people have different opinions on how to tackle problems. For example, the Quaker who is in the group doesn’t want violence and understands why Jamie protected a few people in Cross Creek. Others aren’t so supportive of peace.

Adapting A Breath of Snow and Ashes chapter

The chapter wasn’t used in the TV series. This isn’t too surprising. It does drag out a storyline that there wouldn’t be the time for in the show. Things need to speed up, and that means cutting down this back and forth where it looks like Jamie is trying to play both sides.

During the series, we saw Jamie tell Lord John Grey already that he is going to be on the Patriots’ side. This hasn’t reached others yet, but it’s only a matter of time.

I don’t mind that this chapter was switched out. It would have been more characters for the sake of it and it is a little redundant. It’s best just to keep things condensed in a TV series.
