Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with Claire having a weird and vivid dream. She mentions at one point that she is holding onto her own heart. It seems strange, but it really does show the severity of the fever. Claire is in and out of consciousness because of the fever. She’s struggling to but fighting to survive.

Then the chapter moves onto what looks like another dream. Claire is describing a red-haired man who is full of worry. She doesn’t know the name of this man, but she knows she loves him. We know that this man in Jamie, but this shows how her brain is working while her body fights the fever.

She then sees a dark-haired woman walking over to Jamie. There’s an intimacy in the touch, and all Claire can do is think “no.” She knows that something isn’t right about this entire scene, but she can’t really put her finger on it.

It’s clear that this dark-haired woman in Malva. This isn’t a dream. Something is happening, but what is that exactly? This is something that plays with our minds as we get into the next chapters. After all, by this point, it seems clear that this isn’t just another fever dream.

First, Claire needs to pull herself through the fever.
