Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

This chapter doesn’t foreshadow all that much. I guess the biggest bit of foreshadowing is in the part where Roger is heading to Brownsville. It’s clear that there are major tensions between the Browns and the Frasers and Roger is trying anything to keep things calm.

Jamie points out that there was an attempt to smooth things between the MacKenzies and Grants in a similar fashion with Jamie’s mother. She wasn’t having any of it, though. Does this foreshadow that nothing is going to work to smooth things over with the Browns?

The rest of the chapter is plot development. Get ready for trouble at the Ridge.

Adapting A Breath of Snow and Ashes chapter

The chapter was used in Outlander Season 6, and that’s not surprising. We didn’t see Roger head to Brownsville but that didn’t really matter. The focus was on Claire and the women to help the MacNeills. Malva went instead of Marsali since Marsali was already in New Bern with Fergus.

The outcome was very much the same. While Claire didn’t confirm that some of the family had survived, we did see that the baby and Mrs. MacNeill died.

There was no way the series could skip this. It starts off the spread of sickness, leading to Claire getting ill. Of course, Caire’s illness turns out to be something different, but nobody knows that at first. The sickness at the Ridge is the perfect cover for what does happen.
