John Bell and Sam Heughan take us inside Young Ian’s story in Outlander Season 6, Episode 4. Take a look at the featurette STARZ revealed.
Outlander Season 6, Episode 4 is dark but also beautiful. It’s also important for going deeper into one of the growing characters in the series. It’s mostly all about Young Ian.
We get to find out his story, why he had to leave the Mohawk. This wasn’t something he chose to do, and we get a sense of that in Outlander Season 5. It’s only in “The Hour of the Wolf” that we get the entire tale, and it’s Jamie to who he opens up.
Outlander Season 6, Episode 4 featurette
In the featurette released, a lot of it is focused on Young Ian’s story. John Bell delves into what it was like for him to show this side of Ian. There is a moment of happiness at the start, but then we learn the devastating story of him losing his daughter and not being able to hold her. We find out why he was asked to leave the tribe that had become his family.
On top of that, Bell talks about the knowledge that Ian now has. Being from a family of time travelers, he now has the burden of future knowledge, and he isn’t alone.
The featurette also focuses on Bree’s struggles. She knows what is to come for the Native American people, and she hates it. Claire also struggles with it. Right now, the family has to side with the Crown, but what about after this?
This featurette is also a chance for Matt B. Roberts to explain why this episode was done the way it was. It was a chance to tell Young Ian’s story in full and not skip over important moments. After all, Young Ian had to find his place in the world, and figure out how the two parts of him could join together.
