If you’re getting ready for another Outlander episode at midnight, you’ll want to hold your horses. The series isn’t airing new this weekend.

We know that a lot of Outlander fans will stay up until midnight on Saturday nights into Sunday morning. New episodes of the series drop on STARZ, and everyone wants to be able to watch it as soon as possible.

There is some bad news this week. As the promo told us and we warned you a few weeks ago, there isn’t going to be a new episode this weekend. Claire and Jamie are spending some time together.

Why has STARZ taken a break from Outlander?

Why would the network want to take a break from one of its biggest shows? This is all due to the time of year. It’s Easter weekend, and a lot of networks choose to take time off from new episodes over Easter weekend.

A lot of people will travel to see family. That’s likely the case this Easter with the last two Easters being hit with the pandemic and big waves of COVID cases. Many people are just wanting to get life back to normal so they’re visiting family while they can.

This will mean not as many people as normal are going to watch the episode right away. It could mean some people wait until Monday to watch the show. Rather than seeing a risk to the ratings, STARZ (and other networks) take the time off.

The bad news is we’re not getting a rerun at the usual 9 p.m. ET/PT timeslot on the channel. Instead, we’re getting reruns of Power Book IV. You can watch all the reruns you want on the STARZ App.

The good news is that this Droughtlander is a short one. It’s just a week, with a new episode back next Sunday, April 24. Of course, the big Droughtlander is coming on.
