Why would Malva spy on Claire and Jamie in Outlander?
The end of Outlander Season 6, Episode 4 saw another intimate moment between Claire and Jamie. Why was Malva watching them in the act?

Claire and Jamie spent a lot of time apart during Outlander Season 6, Episode 4. That wasn’t surprising considering Jamie had to spend a lot of time with the Cherokee this episode. In fact, in the books, there are a lot of instances when the couple is separated due to day-to-day life.
Jamie returned and Claire immediately wanted to be with him physically. She didn’t wait to get him to the bedroom, though. Instead, the two were together in the barn. It wasn’t that surprising to find out that someone was watching them.
Why would Malva watch Claire and Jamie in Outlander?
Malva is a curious young lady. She is eager to learn more about medicine and surgery. Throughout the episode, she worked with Claire and learned how to use the ether. Then she questioned Claire about her book and what Claire writes in there.
The questions about the book seem to be somewhat understandable. Why would Claire want to write down surgeries and draw pictures of things she saw? Claire didn’t think anything of the questions.
However, then came the next moment. Malva watched Claire and Jamie as they were intimate. She didn’t seem to be doing it for “fun.” Malva just seemed curious, but why would she be curious about that? She’s never seemed curious about the intimacies of a couple before. This suggests that she’s up to something. Watching the two gives her information to use in the future.
What Malva does in A Breath of Snow and Ashes
This is the part where we get into the spoilers from the book. You’ll want to skip this part if you’re a show-only or show-first fan.
In A Breath of Snow and Ashes, we don’t get chapters from Malva’s point of view. However, we do get people’s opinions of her, including Jamie’s thoughts about how Tom could be her father. The dates don’t quite match up properly.
However, Malva causes trouble. She reveals to Claire that she slept with Jamie and is having his child. Would Jamie sleep with Malva? Claire doesn’t think that but Malva shares her knowledge of Jamie’s scars, including the one on his leg. How would Malva know about this? Well, it turns out that the show seems to be revealing how she’s seen this scar.
