3 best Young Ian moments in Outlander Season 6, Episode 4
Praying to both gods
Young Ian opens up to Jamie during the episode, sharing the story of what happened with the Mohawk. There were some brilliant moments during this, but it’s the part where he fears the loss of both his wife and child that stands out the most.
We get to see that struggle between being Mohawk and Scot. He prays to both the Christian God and the Mohawk gods, making it clear that he clings to his old life and is also trying to believe about the new beliefs he’s been adopted into. This comes full circle at the end of the episode when Young Ian makes it clear that he can be both Scot and Mohawk.
Saving Kaheroton’s life
We got to meet Kaheroton during Outlander Season 4. He comes back during this new episode, and it turns out he is the one Emily moved on with when Young Ian was sent away. Understandably, Young Ian doesn’t like Kaheroton at all.
However, Young Ian realizes that he and Emily may not have been compatible. Plus, Emily chose Kaheroton and not him. He gives Kaheroton a fighting chance in the dual, which leads to Kaheroton asking Young Ian to go to Emily should he die. Young Ian doesn’t want that to happen. He needs to make sure Kaheroton goes back to his wife and son and makes sure Kaheroton survives.
Letting go of his past
After saving Kaheroton’s life, Young Ian is able to find closure. He heads to the stream and unwraps a wolf head symbol that he used to wear around his neck. It was a gift from Emily.
This is an important moment of closure for Young Ian. He is leaving his past with the Mohawk behind. Sure, he’s both Scot and Mohawk, but he isn’t going to cling onto his life with Emily and their deceased child any longer. It’s time to focus on his future.
