Baptizing Henri-Christian

After saving Henri-Christian, Roger could have just shouted at the boys and immediately taken them to the parents. Instead, he made a point of baptizing the baby. This is something Roger would be allowed to do in an emergency, and we can class this as an emergency right now.

Roger needs to make it clear that Henri-Christian is a baby and not a demon. He needs to show the lads that this is a child of God. It’s the easiest way to do that in the moment before figuring out what to do with the rest of the family.

Handling the frog

Roger heads out to the McCallum house to see Aidan so that Aidan can head out to Jamie’s. While there, Amy screams from inside the house.

We get a moment of humor in a dark episode. There’s a frog in the milk, but Amy was sure it was haunting the milk. She breaks down, wondering why she’s here and realizing that she’ll never see Scotland again. Roger has a chance to calm her down and help her see some brightness in the events of her life right now.

The story of Moses

Finally, we get to see Roger give a sermon at church on Sunday. He wants to talk about a baby floating in a basket down a river. It’s not Henri-Christian, though.

He shares the story about Moses. It’s not about the story, though. This is about the character development for Roger. He is becoming the minister at the Ridge, and that’s the way everyone sees him. It’s time for him to find his way, and Jamie even seems to encourage this.
