Outlander Season 6, Episode 3 recap: Fergus opens up a little
Rent collection time in Outlander Season 6
We’ve seen it in previous seasons, and now we get to see how it’s going to work out at the Ridge. It’s time for Jamie to collect the rents, and everyone is brought to the Big House for it.
There is a lot that goes down in this part of the episode. We see Evan Lindsay flirting with Marsali, and Bree notes to Roger that they should set him up with Lizzie. Roger points out that they’d have to go through the Beardsley twins. Bree hasn’t noticed them, but a few others have.
The biggest part is that some of the tenants, the McGregors, are talking about Fergus and aren’t being decreet about it. The wife notes that Fergus is a drunk and the baby is grotesque. Fergus throws his drink in her face and it starts a fight. Fortunately, Lizzie overheard enough to note that the wife started it. Tom makes it clear that they should all show kindness.
Afterward, Roger gives a sermon in church about baby Moses being floated down the river to protect him. While that happens, Jamie sees Fergus out in the forest. Fergus is going to kill himself, telling Jamie that death would allow Marsali to marry someone else who could provide for the babies. There’s an emotional scene as Jamie encourages Jamie to go back to Marsali and be the man that he has always been. We get the reunion between the two we needed all episode, and it gives us hope for the family.
We can’t end without something big for the rest of the season. Major MacDonald turns up with the guns for the Cherokee. He has a newspaper. The Boston Tea Party has happened. The war is starting, and it’s almost here.
