Marsali went into labor in Outlander Season 6, Episode 2. It wasn’t an easy one and she feared she would die. Did she survive the episode?
Childbirth is supposed to be an exciting time. Sometimes, it’s filled with fear and uncertainty. That was certainly the case for the Frasers and MacKenzies in Outlander Season 6, Episode 2. Marsali went into labor, but there was a problem.
The baby wasn’t moving much. Claire also noted that the labor wasn’t progressing. We all know from A Breath of Snow and Ashes that Claire feared that she might have to do the unthinkable. She could perform a c-section to save the baby, but it would kill Marsali. She didn’t quite say it all out loud in the series, but we know Claire was thinking the same thing on the show.
Did Marsali die in childbirth in Outlander Season 6, Episode 2?
It wouldn’t be the first time a woman has feared childbirth. We know the survival rate was low in the past. There are plenty of reports of women dying in or just after childbirth. In fact, at one point there was a one in five chance of death. With Marsali now on her fourth pregnancy, a fear of death was only all too understandable.
Fortunately, Fergus came in to help. He used an unconventional method but managed to help speed up the contractions and bring baby Henri-Christian into the world. He also gave Marsali the support she needed to believe that she would make it through another pregnancy. Despite everything he is currently going through, he was there when she needed him the most.
Marsali did survive childbirth. The baby also survived. There’s a big storyline to come for Henri-Christian.
