The live ratings for the Outlander Season 6 premiere are out. Just how did the episode perform compared to previous seasons?

When we heard of the Outlander Season 6 premiere date, we were certainly excited and ready for it. Now it’s time to see how the series performed in the live ratings.

There are some things to consider when it comes to the live ratings released by TV Series Finale. These are only the live ratings for when the shows air on STARZ live. That means they only take into account the people who watch on cable, and it’s only for the Nielsen houses.

These figures don’t factor in those who watch directly through the app. So, if you watch at midnight, you’re not counted in the live ratings. However, your views are definitely counted overall for STARZ when it comes to deciding on the future of the series.

Outlander Season 6 premiere live ratings

The live ratings for the episode were 0.641 million viewers with a 0.05 demo rating. These are nothing like the numbers you’d see on broadcast networks, but there are a few reasons for that. One of the biggest reasons is that premium cable channels tend to have apps that stream the shows and people watch there.

How do the numbers look compared to Outlander Season 5? They are down compared to both the Season 5 premiere and the Season 5 finale.

This isn’t anything to worry about. Remember that the fifth season was down in the live ratings compared to Season 4 but the streaming numbers were much higher. We can probably expect the same with the sixth season. More and more people are turning to streaming for more control over when they watch something.

However, the live numbers could suggest that the long Droughtlander hasn’t been great for it. Of course, this wasn’t STARZ or Outlander’s fault. The show struggled to start filming right away due to the pandemic just like so many other shows. There are a lot of shows coming back two or three years after their previous seasons including Upload on Prime Video and The Last Kingdom on Netflix.

When it comes to overall on STARZ, the Outlander Season 6 premiere is a little disappointing. The show has dropped from second place to sixth place out of all current STARZ shows in the demo. It is No. 1 in the audience, though! That’s a positive to take away.

The three Power spin-offs, BMF, and P-Valley are the five shows performing better in the demo. The demo is the 18-49-year-old demographic, which is the demographic for advertisers. This isn’t a concern on STARZ when there are now advertisers to draw in!
