Droughtlander is over with the arrival of the Outlander Season 6 premiere. Here are the top three Claire moments from the episode.
There is certainly some debate over one particular moment in the Outlander Season 6 premiere. It’s all about the ether use at the end. While it certainly seems out of character for Claire, it’s worth noting that trauma changes people. We do things that we wouldn’t have even considered before the traumatic event.
It’s not one of my favorite moments. That doesn’t take away from the importance of it, but there are other moments that stand out for me. I’ll break my three favorite moments from the episode down in this post.
3 best Claire moments from the Outlander Season 6 premiere
Her talk with Brianna about doing things in the past
We start with the scene between Claire and Brianna when they’re talking about Brianna’s inventions. Bree is worried about bringing some modern-day items to the Ridge. However, they’re going to be important for people.
The fear is what could happen. Bree has seen how people can react around Claire, and she doesn’t want that to be the case for her. That’s only natural. However, Claire points out that Bree can’t be afraid of who she really is.
It’s time for Brianna to step up. Sure, they’re not actual inventions for Claire and Brianna, but the people of the Ridge don’t know that. We’ll get to see Brianna show off her skills with matches, a waterwheel, and maybe some underfloor heating.
Picking up on Tom’s words to Jamie about scars
When Tom Christie shows up at the Ridge, it’s clear there is tension between him and Jamie. Tom is there as a last resort, and it’s clear that he doesn’t really want to rely on Jamie’s help. Nor does he really want to rely on Claire’s help when it comes to healing. However, he’s cut his hand and he needs to.
Claire doesn’t miss the comment about Tom’s scar being an honorable one. She’s immediately angry on Jamie’s behalf, trying to understand what Tom means. We get to see the fiercely protective woman again. She’s there somewhere, and it’s going to take some healing for her to be there all the time again.
Scurrying away from the Browns
When the Browns show up to get their stolen property back, Claire immediately has a negative reaction. She can’t stand to be around them, and so she scurries off into the house.
This is a clear indication that Claire isn’t over the trauma of events. She wants to be happy and fine, but there are memories inside that threaten to come out. There are memories that threaten to take over. She can tell people and herself she’s fine as much as she likes, but that doesn’t make it true.
Yes, Claire is strong. She has been through a hell of a lot in her life. That doesn’t make her unbreakable. We get a chance to see the trauma she’s carrying in this one moment, and that’s why I love it so much. Actions say a lot.
