The Outlander Season 6 premiere is just days away. What exactly can we expect in the very first episode? Here’s a look inside the spoilers.

It’s been one extremely long Droughtlander. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter. We’re just days away from the Outlander Season 6 premiere.

There will be some who have already watched the episode. We got an amazing virtual screening of the episode, which clocks in at 80 minutes long. Diana Gabaldon has shared her praise for the season, and there’s no doubt that we can’t wait to see the Christies on our screens.

So, what can we expect? We now have a synopsis for the episode, titled “Echoes.” Get ready for trouble.

The Christies appear in the Outlander Season 6 premiere

Take a look at the synopsis for the episode first before we break it all down:

"Jamie’s authority is tested when an old rival from Ardsmuir shows up to settle on the Ridge. Meanwhile, Claire finds a new way to cope with the trauma of her assault by Lionel Brown."

While the synopsis doesn’t directly tell us, we know that the Christies are showing up. Of course they’re going to be in the first episode of the season, and we know it’s Tom Christie that the synopsis is talking about.

Tom was at Ardmsuir before Jamie got there. He had quickly gained his own faction, a group of protestants following him. When Jamie got to Ardsmuir, we know the Jacobites followed him. However, it wasn’t an easy push for the following—and Jamie didn’t even necessarily want it. It led to some animosity between Jamie and Tom.

Then there’s the bit about Claire. She’s struggling to deal with the trauma of the events that happened to her in the Outlander Season 5 finale.

One of the things I love about the TV series is that it doesn’t just quickly move on from traumatic events. We got to see Jamie suffer from PTSD after everything with Black Jack Randall at Wentworth, and we got a full episode focus on Roger dealing with the trauma after his hanging last season.

Now it’s time to see Claire suffer. I’m sure there are going to be some book fans who aren’t happy about how things play out because “that’s not how it was in the books.” However, as a book-first fan, I certainly love to see the TV writers put more focus on survivors.
