A Discovery of Witches: Could we get a Gallowglass spin-off?

We’re seeing A Discovery of Witches coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean we’re ready to say goodbye to the characters. Will we get a Gallowglass spin-off?

We’re not ready to say goodbye to the A Discovery of Witches characters. Gallowglass is one of our favorite characters, and that’s not just because Outlander‘s Steven Cree plays the character.

We would love to see a spin-off happen. It would be great to get to know more of this centuries-old character, one who has gained a lot of fans with recent episodes of the series. There’s so much more we need to learn about Gallowglass, and we’d love to know where he goes after the events of the A Discovery of Witches Season 3 finale.

Will a Gallowglass spin-off happen in the world of A Discovery of Witches?

There are a few factors to consider for a spin-off. The first is whether Deborah Harkness is willing to write anything more about the character.

Sadly, Harkness was recently diagnosed with cancer, but she still has books in the works. One of those is about Gallowglass, which means there is hope that a spin-off could be developed.

We’d then need to hope that the interest in the main series was good enough for Sky One to develop the series. If not, has it been good enough in the States to see the spin-off picked up there? This is something we don’t get to know too much as the networks like to keep things quiet, but we hope the answer is yet.

Then it’s all about whether Steven Cree would be interested. We can’t have Gallowglass played by anyone else now. This is where there’s more good news. According to Radio Times, Cree would be more than happy to step back into the role if it came up.

Right now, a spin-off isn’t in the works, but we wouldn’t complain if it was in the future.
