Claire induces Marsali’s labor in Outlander Book 6, Chapter 35
With the Lionel Brown situation handled, it’s time to move the focus back onto Marsali in Outlander Book 6, Chapter 35. We get the birth of her fourth child.
This is a scary chapter for Marsali. Movement has slowed, and she’s sure that there’s something wrong. Claire is also worried about the health of the baby. There is some movement, which is reassuring. However, the heartbeat is slow.
The best thing Claire can do is induce labor. That could mean a danger for both mother and child, but it’s a risk that she needs to take. It’s time for the birth of Henri-Christian. There are some surprising moments within this chapter, especially when it comes to Fergus’s knowledge of women and childbirth.
The chapter foreshadows a little. It’s all about Fergus not immediately being around. People have to find him, and Marsali makes a note that Fergus hasn’t been around all that much. It’s clear that he is struggling mentally.
This chapter hasn’t yet been used in the TV series. I fully expect some, if not all, of it to be included in Outlander Season 6. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.
Let’s dive into A Breath of Snow and Ashes Chapter 35.
