Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with Claire at home with Fergus and Young Ian. Jamie has gone up to fix the roof, and the two men share that he has given strict orders that Claire isn’t meant to see Lionel Brown. Jamie just wants to keep his wife safe, physically and mentally.

Jamie also needs to figure out what to do with the man. It’s important to have some sort of trial for him. They need answers from Lionel first, finding out as much as possible about the events that had happened up to this. After all, it’s now clear that Hodgepile and his men were involved in the burning of cabins.

How will Jamie get the answers? Will he resort to torture? Claire has to wonder if she’ll even care about Lionel’s death. She is happy that the other men died. She’s starting to lose ay sympathy for these men as she thinks about everything that happened to her.

Executing Lionel Brown is going to be tricky, though. They have Richard Brown to deal with.

At the end of the chapter, we see Claire back in her surgery. Thomas Christie shows up needing some medical attention. The two have a chance to chat, and Claire learns a little more about Tom. This is a chance to learn that he has read Tom Jones. Well, it turns out someone read it to him.

Who would that be? Not his wife. Tom Christie burned his wife’s books. It was Jamie who would read from memory. This was one of the books, and no, Tom did not like the main character. I do love that we get to learn a little more about who Tom Christie is in this chapter. It’s important for the chapters to come.
