The Outlander TV series is based on a set of books. Will there be a Game of Thrones problem? Is the Outlander book series complete?

The last thing we want to happen with the TV series is for it to get ahead of the books. We’ve seen the disaster that can lead to with Game of Thrones. Diana Gabaldon doesn’t think that it will happen with how long it takes to film each season, but we’ve also seen how long it can take to write a book.

This isn’t a complaint about how long it takes to write a book. It’s purely an observation. It took eight years to bring us the ninth book in the series, and five seasons of the series filmed and aired in that time. It could lead to problems with the show getting ahead of the books.

How many books are there in the Outlander book series?

So, it makes a lot of people question whether the ninth book is the last. Is the Outlander book series complete?

The ninth book is not the last. There is going to be a 10th book, and Gabaldon is already working on it. This is supposed to be the last book of the main series, but you never know. There is always a chance that the characters tell her they want her to continue the story.

There are also other books within the world of Outlander in the works. Gabaldon is planning a prequel novel about Jamie’s parents, and there is a potential Master Raymond book coming. These won’t affect the main series, but they could open the world to spin-offs within the world of the series. And we’re still hoping for a Lord John Grey spin-off series.
