Outlander Book Club: A Breath of Snow and Ashes Chapter 27 breakdown
Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter
The foreshadowing in this chapter is mostly at the start. It’s when Claire and Marsali are talking about Fergus. It’s clear that he’s not abusive, but he is going through a hard time. We have this depression storyline coming up, and this part is all leading to that.
First, we need to deal with Claire’s abduction. One thing is clear: this is going to get worse before it gets better. This isn’t really foreshadowing, though. We’re into plot development at this point.
Adapting A Breath of Snow and Ashes chapter
The chapter has mostly been used for the series. We got the entire abduction storyline with a few changes at the end of Outlander Season 5. I didn’t mind the storyline being pulled forward to the fifth season. There is a lot to fit into Season 6 from A Breath of Snow and Ashes, but The Fiery Cross doesn’t have all the major storylines that were necessary. I’m guessing the French gold isn’t going to be used or it’s going to be developed in a different way.
One storyline that hasn’t come up yet is the bit with Marsali and Claire talking about Fergus. However, we did get a moment where Marsali told Brianna about her father. I have a feeling that this part may be skipped over or reduced in some way to save for time. It may be combined with Brianna being worried about Marsali in some way. With just eight episodes and Fergus’s storyline being so important, it’s probably the best way to deal with things.
