Outlander Book Club: A Breath of Snow and Ashes Chapter 26 breakdown
Roger returns home to learn Bree worries about Fergus and Marsali in Outlander Book 6, Chapter 26
Roger returns home after the difficult experience in the woods in Outlander Book 6, Chapter 26. Brianna starts by consoling him, but there are more pressing matters to discuss.
While the chapter starts with Roger returning home still feeling heavy from the events of the cabin in the woods, it moves on to other matters. Brianna starts light with the groundhog kiln she’s been digging, but it then moves onto Bree’s concerns about Fergus and Marsali.
Brianna worries that Fergus is abusive toward Marsali. She hopes that isn’t the case, and it doesn’t fully make sense to her. It’s not easy to get to the bottom of this, though, and she needs to tread carefully.
I know that a lot of people view wife-beating as normal in the past, but we’ve seen with other storylines that it wasn’t. While men would discipline their wives, people wouldn’t always stand by if the beatings were for no “good” reason. We’ve seen Jenny help to save a boy and his mom from an abusive husband.
This chapter hasn’t been used in the series yet, but I do think it will be. We know that Fergus and Marsali are going to face trouble in their relationship in the coming season. There is a lot of foreshadowing in this chapter for Brianna and for Fergus.
Let’s dive into A Breath of Snow and Ashes Chapter 26.
