Did Diana Gabaldon write any of Outlander Season 6?
We love watching the Outlander episodes that Diana Gabaldon has written. Has she had any involvement in Outlander Season 6 writing?
Diana Gabaldon was busy writing Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone while the Outlander Season 6 writing room was happening, but that didn’t mean she wouldn’t be able to write an episode. It turned out that she did write one of the episodes, but we’re not going to see it.
Gabaldon wrote Outlander Season 6, Episode 9. Fans now know that the show was reduced from 12 episodes to eight due to various reasons. That means we won’t get to see the episode that was written.
Will the Outlander Season 6 episode be used for Outlander Season 7?
Well, can’t the episode just become the Outlander Season 7 premiere? That won’t quite work. Premiere and finale episodes need to be set up in a very specific way. The way Episode 9 would have been written wouldn’t have worked for that type of set-up.
However, that doesn’t mean the entire episode will be scrapped. After all, some of the storylines are still going to need to happen. So, those parts of the episode can be used within the new premiere episode.
It’s not clear how much will be used yet. Gabaldon doesn’t even know.
Will Diana Gabaldon write Outlander Season 7?
What about writing another episode? Is there a chance the author of the book series will be invited to write an episode within that season?
This is possible. A fan asked on Twitter whether she’d be involved in writing one of the Outlander Season 7 episodes and she said “I think so.”
It looks like not everything has been set in stone just yet. This will be surprising to some since filming is rumored to start in January or February next year. We’ll have to wait and see what’s going on with that, but you can be sure we’re keeping an ear to the ground.
Outlander Season 6 will premiere on Sunday, March 6 at 8/7c on STARZ.
