Diana Gabaldon has said that Jamie is dead for parts of every single Outlander book. Is that the case in Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone?
When you consider that the books involve time travel, it’s not surprising that Jamie is dead for some parts of all books. We have moments where we’re in the future, and we know that Jamie isn’t alive when the characters are in the 20th century.
However, there have been times that Jamie has died temporarily and Claire has managed to bring him back to life. With the MacKenzies back in their own time and no time spent in the future, would Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone break the cycle of Jamie being dead?
There were battles to face. The Revolutionary War is in full swing and the Frasers and MacKenzies have had to pick the side they know will win. That means trouble on the Ridge for them, but did it mean Jamie dying?
Jamie dies in Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone
Brianna brings back a book that her father wrote. It was published after Frank’s death, but it looks into Jamie’s life. In fact, it tells everyone that Jamie Fraser is going to die at the Battle of King’s Mountain.
So, what happens? Well, he is shot. There is also a mention of a snake biting him, but that is forgotten about later on. Did it really happen or was it just a figment of Jamie’s imagination? Maybe we’ll find out in the 10th book.
The most important thing is that Jamie does die at the Battle of King’s Mountain. It looks like Frank’s writing comes true. The future can’t be changed.
That is until Claire steps in. She does everything she can to save her husband, and that’s when the blue light appears. Only the other time travelers can see it, but she manages to pull the fragments of the bullet out of Jamie and save his life. Did everyone else read it as Claire absorbs it and then spat out the bullet?
