Outlander Book Club: A Breath of Snow and Ashes Chapter 6 breakdown

Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

There is some foreshadowing in this chapter of A Breath of Snow and Ashes. It’s all in the moment with Lizzie. It’s clear that Lizzie isn’t all that bothered about her upcoming wedding to Manfred.

However, there’s another part of the chapter that also helps to foreshadow this. Josiah and Kezzie Beardsley are in the woods around the house. They say they’re standing guard, but there is a lot more going on here. The Beardsley twins and Lizzie have a thing going on.

I love that we get just a hint of this at this point in the story. We’re in for a ride from this point when it comes to Lizzie and the twins.

Adapting A Breath of Snow and Ashes chapter

The chapter wasn’t used in Outlander Season 5. I don’t think it’s going to be used in Outlander Season 6, either. The only part that might is just a small focus on Lizzie’s betrothal to Manfred. There just isn’t a need for everything else that’s going on. This chapter really is more about life at the Ridge while focusing on growing the bond between Brianna and Roger.

We will need to see the Lizzie/Beardsley twin storyline happen. What I’m curious about is whether it will start with Lizzie being betrothed to Manfred first. Or will that part of the story get skipped over completely with the focus moving straight to Lizzie’s relationship with the twins? I could see that happening because there just isn’t the time to throw in everything.
