We start the chapter with Jemmy coming across Jamie and Roger in the woods. He’s managed to get away from the women, who are quilting together, and wants to spend time with the men in his life. He refuses to return to Brianna.

Jamie and Roger decide to let him stick around. However, Jamie needs to tell the women where Jemmy is first. Jamie and Roger can hear the women calling for Jemmy in the distance.

With that sorted, it’s time to get on with the day. However, a boar attack stops them. They have to fight off the boar and protect Jemmy at the same time. They certainly do a good job of it, but they need a little extra help. That help comes in the form of a certain Indian.

Jamie and Roger are initially apprehensive, but then they realize that the person isn’t just one of their neighbors. Young Ian has returned, and he’s brought Rollo back with him. No questions are asked at this point. The two men are just happy to see Young Ian. Well, Jamie certainly is. It’s clear there is still some tension from Roger because of what Young Ian did to get him back from the Mohawk.
