Outlander Book Club: The Fiery Cross Chapter 108 breakdown
A boar attacks and a family member returns in Outlander Book 5, Chapter 108
Outlander Book 5, Chapter 108 sees the surprising return of a family member. This was certainly not a return we expected to see, but it didn’t stop us adoring it.
It all starts with Jamie and Roger out in the woods. Jemmy joins them, although he doesn’t tell his mom and everyone else what he’s doing. They’re all looking for him, leaving Jamie to be the one to explain that he and Roger will look after the boy for a while.
That’s when the boar attacks. The two men do put up a good fight, but it’s a certain Indian who manages to save them. At first, they think it’s a local Native American, but then they realize that it’s someone they know very well. Young Ian has returned.
The chapter was used in the series but it was heavily adapted. Roger wasn’t in this part of the story. Instead, Claire took his part in the chapter, and they were both looking after Jemmy with Bree knowing where Jemmy was. I’ll get to my thoughts on the change in the adaptation section.
I don’t spot all that much in the way of foreshadowing, though. Young Ian’s return is more plot development than anything else. I’ll get to my thoughts on the matter in the foreshadowing section.
Let’s dive into The Fiery Cross Chapter 108.
